Every year approximately 300,000 students from America travel overseas to study abroad. For me to be able to count myself a part of this small group of scholars is an amazing accomplishment and unbelievable dream of its own. I have always been intrigued by foreign exchange students and always felt drawn to doing an abroad program. However, like many others I felt like this aspiration was too far out of reach. Where would I begin? What program should I join? How much would it cost? These were questions that added to my overall defeat in all hopes of becoming an exchange student. That was until I discovered the Rotary. Being given the wonderful opportunity to become an international ambassador for the Rotary Youth Exchange Program still has me completely awestruck. With amazing amounts of support from friends, family, Rotary officials, current exchange students and future exchange students, this August I will depart on my year long journey to the beautiful country of Germany! Being a part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Ambassador Program will not only allow me to immerse myself into the German culture but will also give me a chance to promote peace, by representing the best of America while forming life-long relationships with my German host families, my fellow students, and other foreign exchange students from around the world! 

My goal for this blog is to help capture the true essence of what it is like to live aboard in a foreign country and bring you along with me through the good times and any challenges I may face in the up-coming year. I am excited to keep everyone updated as we learn, develop, and discover together!
