First School Weekend!

My first weekend after school started we pretty fun and eventful. On Friday I went with my host mom and dad to Dresden for another Stadtfest (city festival/ city party), like Freiberg’s except a lot bigger. This is very fun and I got to see quite a lot of this city (both oldstalt and nuestadt) which was very nice & so beautiful as Dresden is a very old city with old architecture.

Saturday I went with a Rotarian from my Rotary club here in Freiberg, named Rudi Grimm, his kids, family, and friends to a handball tournament that his company sponsored. I have never seen, and am not even sure if I have heard of handball before, so it was very cool getting to watch the game and learn the rules. It looks really hard to play, but hopefully I will get to try it this year.

Finally on Sunday, I went again with my host family to a town? village? I don’t know? Called Obernhau, which is LITERALLY right on the edge on Germany and the Czech Republic (seriously I could see the Check Republic but since I left my passport at home we weren’t able to drive into the country). There we went to the cutest little craft market (like a farmers market basically). We shopped, ate some delicious food, and explored around. On the way back home we drove along the “mountain” range here in Saxony called the "Erzgebirge". The views were very nice and we even got to stop at a coffee shop/ restaurant with great views of the scenery and surrounding villages. One of the workers there kept us entertained with fun magic trick sorta things and when he found out that I was an exchange student, gave me a cute little pin to add to my blazer!
