Rotary Meeting #2: Meeting Bastian and Chemnitz Murder

Today I attended my Second Rotary Meeting. This was an important meeting because the Governor of Freiberg was there and I also got to meet the other exchange student that will be in my Rotary club this year, Bastian. I was able to talk with him and his host father a little bit before the meeting started and so far he really likes Germany. He has only been here for one week now, so I am sure his transition was a bit harder than mine especially since school has already started, but he seems really nice and it sounded like he is really enjoying everything so far. When the meeting start he also had to introduce himself to the club, and not to toot my own horn, but I did (or attempted) my introduction in German, while Bastians was in English. The meeting itself was very long and serious. They discussed, as a club, the murder that took place outside a discotec in Chemnitz, the protesting it has caused, and if they should take some type of action as a Rotary club. Such as putting something in the newspaper, etc. Because I am not aware of what is on American news networks right now, I do not know if everyone back home is aware of this current event. If you are not, I would highly recommend looking it up as it has been the #1 new story here in Saxony (my state).
