Wine Tasting Kinda Weekend!

Although I really enjoy going to school here in Germany, weekends are always the most fun for me. Every weekend my host family is always traveling somewhere new so that I can see more of Germany/ explore, I am hanging out with friends, etc.

This weekend of course, was also very busy and super fun. On Friday (August 24th), I attended a BBQ for my host moms dentistry organization in the Erzgebirge "mountains." The venue was on a little German B&B type of resort nestled along the forest with fields and a stable for animals. It was so adorable but also still fancy (in a cozy cabin, mountaineer type of way, think Beaver Creek or Vail Colorado). For dinner they roasted a full pig, along with many little delicious finger foods, desserts, and drinks. After the BBQ, we stopped by my host uncle Alexanders house, where we enjoyed a slice of cake and smoked cheese before going home.

Saturday I ended up spending most day with one of my best friends here so far, Ella, and a couple of her friends. We hung out at her house, watched the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert on DVD, Grease, and played a super funny karaoke game, which was a horrible idea because I suck at singing, but it was so much fun!

Finally on Sunday I went with my Katrin and Andreas wine tasting in Misse, Germany. This was SO amazing. The city is so pretty, with this huge "castle" and church being the main viewpoint that you could even see from the wine field up on the mountain. The winery itself was also so beautiful and photogenic. There was another little craft festival taking place there, so as we walked around admiring the crafts, antiques, and views, we sipped on a nice glass of Rose.

After looking around the craft festival, we walked over to the wine fields that overlooked Misse. THE VIEWS. OH MY GOSH THE VIEWS. I literally couldn't stop smiling the whole time because it was just so pretty and I kept think to myself how crazy it is that I am actually here in Germany getting to experience things like this. Here we also got to eat lunch. I had a mushroom dish, which is funny because before coming to Germany I didn't think I liked mushrooms very much, however, after eating it a few times here I realized mushrooms are actually delicious!

Next my family drove about 10 minutes to the building where they actually produce the wine. We didn't actually go inside, but instead ate, drank, and relaxed some more in their courtyard. There were many venues lining the courtyard and even live music that I really enjoyed because the singer kept singing good songs that I knew (like "Empire State of Mind"). Finally on the way home we stopped by a very popular ice cream place in a nearby village to get some yummy dessert!

I enjoyed every moment of this weekend! Germany is the bestttttt
